One of my favorite parts of Rosh Hashanah is dipping the apples in honey. Sweet, simple, and full of meaning. We dip the apples to symbolize our hope for a sweet new year. It feels like finding hope and sweetness is more important than ever.
Here’s how to do it, step by step.
Step 1: Get a Feldi Studios Pom Honey Pot
It’s simply the best Rosh Hashana honey pot out there, not that I am biased.
No but fr fr this honey pot isn’t just cute, it’s full of meaning. The form is inspired by the shape of a pomegranate and the honey on the inside of the pot creates the shape of a jewish star.
Step 2: Add the honey
Fill your Pom Honey Pot about halfway so it’s easy for guests to reach with the dipper.
Step 3: Dip the apple
Slice up crisp, fresh apples. Green, red, whatever you love. Take a slice and dip it generously into the honey.
Step 4: Say the blessing
Before you eat the apple, say:
Baruch atah Adonai Eloheinu Melech ha-olam borei p’ri ha-eitz.
בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ אֱלֹהֵינוּ מֶלֶךְ הָעוֹלָם בּוֹרֵא פְּרִי הָעֵץ
Then add the special Rosh Hashanah wish:
Yehi ratzon milfanecha Adonai Eloheinu v’Elohei avoteinu she’tchadesh aleinu shanah tovah u’metukah.
Translation: May it be Your will, Lord our God and God of our ancestors, that you renew for us a good and sweet year.
Step 5: Enjoy
The best part. Take that bite and savor the sweetness.
Rosh Hashanah is full of rituals that bring meaning to the table, but this one is extra special, especially with the Pom Honey Pot.
